Trust in the doctor-patient relationship develops over multiple encounters where the patient's expectations are repeatedly met in a humane and holistic way. Unfortunately, like so many things in life, it is broken down much faster than it develops. similarly, health systems that repeatedly meet social expectations build social trust over time.
Tasleem is a specialist Family Physician with more than two decades experience in private, public and academic clinical practice. He has started up clinical services in private practice and has led clinical teams in the public and academic spaces. Since 2015 he has been in full-time clinical academic practice at the University of Cape Town, where he has led research and innovations in health systems, clinical care and medical education. He is currently the President of the South Africa Academy of Family Physicians.
